Jazz is the high-energy heart of a dance education: the turns, leaps, kicks, and isolations that show up in every showcase number, every school dance team, and every musical. At The Facility, jazz starts as early as age 3 in a preschool format built around music and movement, and grows into a technique class that borrows its discipline from ballet and its attitude from the stage.
Our jazz classes run in Studio 2, the percussion room — 1,100 square feet of sprung hardwood with concert-grade sound and programmable LED scenes. The room was built for exactly this style: loud music, big movement, and a floor that gives back on every jump.
The first class is free in any style, so many families try jazz and one other and let the dancer decide. Enroll within 24 hours and we waive the $35 registration fee. Tuition is public to the dollar: $69 a month for one 45-minute class, $80 for an hour.
What we teach in jazz
For preschoolers, jazz is a structured hour of rhythm, direction, and coordination: marching to the beat, freeze games, simple across-the-floor patterns, and a short routine that grows week over week. It is the class where three-year-olds learn to follow a teacher, wait their turn, and feel proud of a finished dance.
For school-age dancers, class follows a real jazz progression: a warm-up of isolations and stretches, technique across the floor (chassés, pas de bourrées, pirouettes, leaps), and a combination that builds performance quality — where the eyes go, how the arms finish, how to sell a line without shouting it. Dancers with a ballet class alongside progress fastest, and we say so.

What to wear to jazz
Leotard or fitted top with leggings or jazz pants, tan jazz shoes, hair pulled back. Fitted clothes matter because a teacher needs to see the knees and hips to correct them safely. For the free trial, comfortable clothes and bare feet or socks are perfect. Do not buy jazz shoes until after the trial; we will point you to a shop with the right fit.
Jazz on the recreational track and beyond
Every jazz class on the public schedule is recreational and performs at the Winter Showcase. Dancers who want more can be invited to the competition company by their teachers, where jazz is a core discipline — and dancers who never compete keep the same instructors and the same stage. Competition is invite-only and always optional.
Find us at 21461 N 78th Ave, Suite 185 in north Peoria, right off the Loop 101 at Deer Valley — a short drive from Arrowhead, Glendale, Sun City, and Surprise. Studio hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 9:30 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm; we are closed Sundays.
Questions parents ask
How young can a child start jazz?
Our preschool jazz class starts at age 3. It is built around music, rhythm games, and simple patterns rather than formal technique, and it is one of the most popular first classes at the studio.
Is jazz or ballet a better first class?
Ballet builds the strongest foundation; jazz is more fun on day one for many kids. Since the first class in any style is free, try both and let your dancer choose — plenty of families end up doing one of each.
What shoes are needed for jazz?
Tan jazz shoes for enrolled dancers. For the free trial, bare feet or socks are fine. Wait for the teacher's go-ahead before buying.
Is jazz good preparation for a school dance or cheer team?
Yes. Turns, leaps, kicks, and sharp arm lines are exactly what school dance teams and pom squads audition for. Our pom classes build on the same base.
How much does a jazz class cost?
$69 a month for one 45-minute class, $80 for one hour, $129 for two hours a week — the full table is on our pricing page. Registration is $35 and waived within 24 hours of the free trial.
