Ballet at The Facility runs right now as recreational ballet in three age groups — ages 5 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12 — plus Disney Princess ballet for our three- and four-year-olds. Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet for ages 4 to 6 are coming soon: raise your hand on the schedule and we will text you when they open. Ballet lives in Studio 1, our largest room: 1,400 square feet of sprung marley floor, a full mirror wall with a curtain, and black walls that take away everything except the dancer and the movement.
We teach ballet the way it should be taught for children: correct alignment before tricks, musicality from the first plié, and corrections that sound like coaching rather than criticism. Our faculty includes a Company Director who runs the competitive program without ever raising her voice, and recreational instructors chosen specifically for how they work with young, first-time dancers.

Your first class is free — no card, no commitment. Enroll within 24 hours and the $35 registration fee disappears. Tuition is public on our pricing page: $69 a month for one 45-minute class, $80 for one hour, with the per-hour rate dropping as weekly hours increase.
How ballet progresses here
Ballet 5-6 teaches the vocabulary through imagery and games: first position is where the heels kiss, a tendu stretches a foot like a paintbrush. Dancers learn to stand tall, point their feet, and follow a short barre sequence without the class ever feeling like drill work. Coming soon: Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet for ages 4 to 6, including a Pre-Primary class that pairs ballet with lyrical so the same hour builds both technique and expression.
Ballet 7-9 turns into true barre-and-center work: pliés, tendus, dégagés, and rond de jambe at the barre, then adage, pirouettes, and small jumps in center. Ballet 10-12 adds longer combinations, pirouette preparation, and the strength work that any dancer thinking about pointe or a company placement will need. Placement is by age and experience together — a beginning 11-year-old is never put in a room of tiny beginners. Have a teen who wants ballet? Call or text and we will talk through the right fit.
Dress code for ballet
Leotard, tights, and pink or skin-tone ballet shoes, with hair in a bun. A small ballet skirt is fine. The dress code is about seeing the body work — a teacher cannot correct a knee she cannot see — not about looking a certain way. For the free trial, leggings and a fitted top with bare feet or socks are completely fine; buy shoes after your dancer falls in love with it, and ask us where — we have local and online shops we trust.
Is ballet the right place to start?
Usually, yes. Ballet builds the strongest foundation for every other style — the turnout, the posture, the discipline of a barre carry straight into jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and even hip hop. Many of our families pair one ballet class with a second style the dancer chooses for fun; the monthly tuition for two weekly hours ($129) is not far from the cost of one.
Our little dancers who are not quite ready for a formal barre start in Disney Princess ballet — dress-up outfits and tiaras welcome — and step into Ballet 5-6 when they are ready (or Pre-Primary, once it opens). We are in north Peoria at 78th Ave and Deer Valley, minutes from Arrowhead and a short drive from Glendale, Sun City, and Surprise, open Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 9:30 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 2:00 pm; we are closed Sundays.
Questions parents ask
What age should a child start ballet?
Our formal ballet classes on the schedule now begin at age 5 (Ballet 5-6); Pre-Primary and Primary Ballet for ages 4 to 6 are coming soon. Three- and four-year-olds can start in Disney Princess ballet, which teaches the same posture and vocabulary through play. There is no such thing as too late — we place dancers by age and experience together.
Do you offer pointe?
Pointe work is only introduced when a dancer's age, strength, and training history make it safe, and it is decided one dancer at a time with the family. Ballet 10-12 builds the strength that comes first. Ask the Company Director if you are wondering where your dancer stands.
What does my child wear to ballet?
Leotard, tights, pink or skin-tone ballet shoes, hair in a bun. A ballet skirt is fine. For the free trial, comfortable fitted clothes and bare feet or socks are perfect — do not buy shoes until a teacher confirms what the class needs.
How is ballet level decided?
By age and experience together. Every class has an age range, and within it teachers look at technique and readiness. If a dancer would be better served one level up or down, we talk with you before any move.

Does ballet lead to the competition team?
It can. Our company is invite-only and strong ballet technique is the biggest factor teachers look for. But recreational-forever is a real path here — same teachers, same Winter Showcase stage, no pressure to compete.
