Worth the drive from Scottsdale.
We will be honest: Scottsdale has studios closer to you. Families still make the 101 drive to The Facility, and there are exactly three reasons why.
The first reason is the rooms. Our four studios are true black boxes — black walls, floors, and ceilings edged with a single line of teal LED — built to feel like a stage instead of a storefront. Dancers perform differently in a room that takes them seriously.
The second is the faculty. Our teachers include a company director who holds high standards without ever raising a voice, a hip hop director with two decades of Arizona dance education and NBA-team credits, and an elite instructor who performed around the world before choosing to teach children. The 101 makes it one straight shot from most of north Scottsdale, usually 30 to 40 minutes.
The third is the culture: every teacher knows every dancer's name, pricing is public down to the dollar, and the first class is always free — so the only thing the drive costs you is the drive.
When the drive makes sense — and when it does not
We are not going to pretend a 35-minute drive is nothing, and we will not tell a Scottsdale family whose dancer is thriving at a nearby studio to switch. The drive makes sense in specific cases: a dancer who wants a particular style taught at depth, a family that wants recreational training treated as seriously as competition, or a kid who lights up in a real black-box room and goes flat in a strip-mall studio with mirrors on drywall. If that describes your dancer, the 101 is one road, door to door.

How to test it without wasting a school night
Do the experiment on a Saturday. Mornings run our full young-dancer block from Mommy & Me at 9:00 am through musical theatre at noon, the 101 is empty, and the first class is free — so the trial costs you one Saturday morning and zero dollars. If the class lands, then have the honest family conversation about whether the weekly drive is livable. Plenty of families decide it is not, and we would rather you learn that from one free Saturday than from a semester of resented commutes.
Questions Scottsdale families ask
Is it really 30 to 40 minutes from Scottsdale?
From north Scottsdale via the 101, yes — it is one road, no interchanges, exiting at Union Hills or Beardsley. From south Scottsdale or Old Town, plan on 45 and think hard about whether a closer studio serves you better.
Should we switch if my dancer is happy at a Scottsdale studio?
Probably not, and we will tell you that to your face. Come take a free class if you are curious, but a happy dancer at a good nearby studio is not a problem that needs solving.
What is the lowest-commitment way to try The Facility from Scottsdale?
A Saturday morning class. Traffic is nonexistent, the young-dancer schedule runs 9 am to noon, and the first class is free — the whole experiment costs one morning.
